This original oil painting captures the rotation of a figure inspired by Kaori Sakamoto's 2022 Olympic bronze medal performance with gentle after-image figures that fade into the dark background. The rich warm tones of the dress and skin glow against the black, and the bright white skates draw the eye along the lines of the figure. The dark background lends it a classical, timeless feeling, while the unique subject matter, colours and visible brushstrokes provide a more modern twist. Frequently Asked Questions
Gift wrapping and packaging
I pack paintings for shipping with several layers of plastic, paper, bubble wrap and cardboard for their safety. Wherever possible I try to recycle the packing materials used to ship my supplies and canvases to me, but I do generally use packing tape, and seal the painting in a single use plastic shipping bag. If you'd prefer that I ship your painting with no single use plastics, or even no plastic at all, send me a message after your order and I'll do what I can to accommodate!
Custom and personalised orders
