Niina Petrokina is a two time European figure skating champion (2025&26) from Estonia. Her skating showcases power, athleticism, and true grit, with an incredible resilience under pressure. This jump study uses her Dune program as inspiration. I used a dark background to create a sense of space as the figure moves across the frame, as though spinning into an abyss. The moment of the peak of a figure skating jump looks like flying, as though they might not need to come back down and this piece aimed to capture that moment.
This painting is sold unframed and unmounted. I would advise mounting and framing the artwork behind glass to protect the painting for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions
Gift wrapping and packaging
I pack paintings for shipping with several layers of plastic, paper, bubble wrap and cardboard for their safety. Wherever possible I try to recycle the packing materials used to ship my supplies and canvases to me, but I do generally use packing tape, and seal the painting in a single use plastic shipping bag. If you'd prefer that I ship your painting with no single use plastics, or even no plastic at all, send me a message after your order and I'll do what I can to accommodate!
Custom and personalised orders
